We were supposed to climb Villarica Volcano today, but low-lying clouds canceled the trip (we'll try again Wednesday). Furthermore, Magge's stomach is really bothering her, so we weren't able to replace the climb with any other excursions. It's been a frustrating few days in Pucón, where there are plenty of outdoor activities but we haven't been able to get outside very much. Yesterday was an exception, as we biked thirty miles roundtrip to check out the Ojos de Caburgua waterfalls. Although it was full of summer weekend crowds, it was still a beautiful site. I'm still feeling defeated by the volcano cancelation, so there will be no long narrative today, just more pictures in the full post.
Crossing a narrow bridge on the way to the Ojos
Chilean countryside
Sneak peek
The pictures don't quite capture the brilliance of the water's color
Look mom, we wore our helmets
The road back
You beat to the punch about the helmet. Youppee!
ReplyDeleteThat bridge allowed only one way traffic. Is there another bridge for the opposing traffic or do you have to wait on the side to let the cars go before entering?
Picture of the horses in the pasture with the mountains in the background reminds me of St. Hillaire, Quebec.
Great pictures of the waterfalls. It is soothing to look at. Was the water cold?
You have to wait for opposing traffic to go through. I almost hit a car on our way back.
ReplyDeleteThe water looked inviting, but it was freezing.
Gorgeous, simply gorgeous. Helmets rock! The water falls remind me of some in Belize where we stayed in the middle of the country.
ReplyDeleteWe had to wait a while for the bridge on the way back. Jeff got frustrated and tried to go ahead eventhough I told him there wasn't enough room. He almost got crushed. Finally the last vehicle is pulling thru and the driver decides he wants to stop and have a chat with me, blocking the bridge completely. Chillean men can't resist the blue eyes - even when my face is covered in mud and he has his entire family in the car with him. Gotta love that machismo!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jeffrey, why did you take a picture of some horses! Aren't there horses in Nashville? ;) Did you happen to find any cows; if so, why aren't there pictures of them?
ReplyDeleteWow! The waterfalls look much prettier than the ones at Burgess Falls. Where the Ojos de Caburgua waterfalls huge or medium sized?
Magge took the picture, of course. However, at least she got the surroundings in the picure, instead of just a close up of the animals.
ReplyDeleteThe Ojos weren't that big, just pretty. Burgess Falls are larger.
