A Peak at Sipadan
We haven't posted in a few days due to a busy schedule in Borneo and lack of reliable internet. We'll be totally off the grid for a few days while we hopefully see orangutans and proboscis monkeys in the jungle, but we'll catch you up once we get to Kuala Lumpur on the 20th. In the meantime, here's a glimpse of what we saw while diving off of Sipadan Island.

That must have been nerve-wracking to spot not a sole but one whole school of barracudas. Before diving do the guides check you from head to toe to make sure you are safe to go diving with such predaceous marine fish?
ReplyDeleteThe barracuda is amazing, the coral behind the barracuda looks equally intriguing. I am with Lucie, trusting that you are checked from head to toe for safety purposes. The barracudas that your two Mothers would turn into would not be a pretty sight for those guides if they did not check :o)Love you both, thanks for the glimpse, will be most eager to see a lot more. Have a great time in the jungle
ReplyDeleteNo need to worry, those barracudas do not look like they like a Jeff burger or a McG. Now if it were fries, yes maybe. They are more their size.
ReplyDeleteGreat dive. What was your total dive time?
Jungle on!!
We actually saw a few schools. The one I took that picture of really wasn't scary. I was, however, a little nervous when a school was swimming around us on another dive. Yes, around us!
ReplyDeleteThe main precaution to take when you're diving around barracudas is to not wear any shiny jewelry, as they may be confused with small fish. Magge and I put away our fake wedding rings, so we were ok. There was still one school, though, that made me a little nervous because they it came right at us.
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been posting in a while. Aren't barracudas vicious?Or maybe I read a false(are there any fales books?Do you know what kind uf turtle that is?
ReplyDeleteLiam, barracudas have a bad reputation but they actually rarely attack humans. Most attacks happens because they mistake jewelry for fish or because people are spearfishing. That turtle is a green turtle.
ReplyDeleteMay I have my jaw back please? Wow. This picture makes me extremely happy. I mean, there are no words to describe this. MAGNIFICO! :)
