Tree Frogs and Travel Quotes

"We live in a world full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open." --Jawaharial Nehru*

I love quotes, always have.  I've also really enjoyed taking photos on this trip and so I have decided to start posting some of my most favorite pictures along with some inspiring travel quotes.

This picture was taken during our drive up the Queensland coast on the Bruce Highway when we stopped to get some ice cream at Frosty Mango.  Jeff and Lorena gave me a hard time for ordering an iced coffee while they ordered mango ice cream, which is what the location is famous for.  However, while I happily enjoyed my coffee (paying little attention to their ribbing) both of them agreed that their mango ice cream was a bit too mangoey. Lorena couldn't even finish hers, while Jeff finished his with some trouble.

Before we got our ice cream, Lorena had to make a phone call and while we were waiting I decided to take some pictures of this tree frog.  He (she?) was a very cooperative model, allowing me to get up quite close and posing for many pictures until I got just the right one.

Tree frogs are ubiquitous in Queensland.  Most often we came across them at night in the bathrooms taking it easy by a damp sink.  I took quite a few pictures.  Animals and plants are probably my favorite photography subjects.  I particularly like being able to take fine-detail shots.

*For those interested, Jawaharial Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India, serving from 1947 to 1964.

  1. Very cute - you didn't try to kiss one I hope? :)

That quote by Nehru is exactly right. Keep your eyes open because even though you think there isn't much out there you might be pleasantly surprised. BTW, what book are you reading right now, Magge?

  2. The frogs are great -- they remind me of the ones in Costa Rica, don't you remember them Magge, they were ubiquitous there? The quote -- yep - I am with Lucie -- fabulous. I admired Nehru when he was Prime Minister, seeing the quote was particularly fun!

  3. Having been a frog once and waited for a princess (Marcia) to come along and kiss me and turn me back into a Prashume Hince (hansome prince).
I plan to never look back. The pond I was in was too small anyway. at least I am not green. I do not plan to croak any time soon.
    Love you

  4. People: how awesome is that first picture?????

I am currently reading War and Peace. Haven't gotten much reading done while in New Zealand and Australia. Very sad. I need to pick it up!

I do remember all the cool frogs in Costa Rica. I also remember that a lot of them were poisonous as well. Luckily these types of tree frogs are inocuous and pretty easy to take pictures of. I love them because they always look like they are smiling.

  9. Being French Canadian I have quite the affinity with frogs. I love them all! But, Magge, if you are fishing for some compliment then I will say the first way is quite delicious.
