The temple looks so immaculate. I am surprised they let you film their prayer session. The tangle of electrical wires is a hoot - not so anymore should it all collapse to the ground. Can you imagine the mess it would create?
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of animal is in the water in the Mekong picture?
They are water buffalo, the domesticated livestock of choice in Southeast Asia.
ReplyDeleteThe columns in the Cao Dai Temple and the clouds on the ceiling were amazing . Jeff is definitely a stud with the Rambo gun. Ho Chi Minh meets Louis Vitton, what a picture, fabulous. If Magge had been in charge of alerting command about the VC, the war would have ended quite differently I am certain. Great pictures, thanks so much
ReplyDeleteGreat pics. Nice choice of topics and a wide range of subject matter. Shame you two were not in charge during the war. I agree a different outcome. It looks like the camera is still hanging in there.
ReplyDeleteMiss you and see you soon. Another great job.
Jeff, I'm sure you know most of this already but I thought I'd toss this in here anyway in the off chance you haven't tried one of these or for anyone else's benefit :-)
ReplyDeleteHow to avoid getting viruses while at an internet cafe...hmmmm. Well, if you don't have a virus scanner with active scanning then I'd recommend that. Avira makes a good free one.
If you're going to the same sites every time, you can always go to the Security tab on Internet Options control panel and set the Security level to High and just make sure the sites you go to are in the "trusted sites" domain list.
I'm not sure what else to suggest except to maybe put up a secondary firewall and make sure you're using the most updated version of Firefox (it's a more secure web browser than IE).
I hope that was useful to someone. If nothing else, it further reinforces my standing in the nerd community. On the other hand, it could lead to more people asking me if I can fix their computer...oh well!
Go USA...World Cup 2010!!!
Have you had any cobra hearts yet? Wait, in the picture captioned, "A Saigon street during the off-peak hours" are those electrical wires or ropes or something else? If those are electrical wires, the city must be well lit? The Cao Dai Temple is really colorful! Does it have a particular reason to be like that? The time is getting closer and closer, can't wait to see you! <3
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had any cobra and I don't think we will. The main touristy area for that is outside Saigon, a long way from here. Coming off my fever, I wasn't particularly adventurous - we played it safe with food for a while.
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of wires everywhere. Why would it surprise you that the city is well-lit?
Not sure if there's a definitive reason for why the temple is colorful. Many places of worship around the world, regardless of religion, are.
