Why We're Travelling

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
- Mark Twain

  1. I have never heard that quote before. I adore the sentiment! I hope you are somewhat thawed out from your rainy trek up the mountain

  2. We found it on a menu in BaƱos, Ecuador. I'm still freezing cold and wet, so I put up the quote more because I needed the reminder as to why we're doing this :-)

  3. It is amazing what you can find in a foreign country! A solid Mark Twain quote written on an Ecuadorian menu. Who would have thunk it?! It is tough traveling, especially when the weather is inclement and you have to fight crowds. Remember that when all this year-round traveling is done you are coming home to sleep in your own bed and have hot showers any time of the day and slather cocoa bean cream all over your body. :)
There are times when you feel you are not accomplishing much that was planned due to various reasons which make you hasten your hiking and walking Machu Picchu such as what happened today. You should not worry about feeling unproductive.

  4. Ah yes. A wise bumper sticker once wrote, with a little paraphrasing, 'A bad day of travel is better than a good day's work'

  5. From a stock trader's perspective: You are much more distraught by the winning trades you didn't take than by the losing trades you made.

  6. So sorry about the weather in Machu Picchu but that is what happens. You roll the dice.
